Sept 2014 Mtg-Chopped Italian Salad, Fried Ice Cream

Diane hosted quilt meeting for us in September. We had a wonderful show and tell especially since so many in our group attended Corrie and her sister Des's retreat, Quilt Taffy Retreat, this year. They had a wonderful time and were very productive. Diane also invited a special guest for our meeting, pattern designer Cheryl Gunn of Waltzing with Bears.
First, our Show and Tell:
Emily went to Corrie's retreat and made four tops! This one was made by using the AccuQuilt to cut the Tumbler shapes. Love your little boy, Emily!

This one Emily made by staying up til 2am with Rachel. She used a layer cake, PB&J and the pattern was from Little Louise's etsy shop.

Emily used half square triangles set on point for this quilt. She made up the pattern. The fabric is from Art Gallery - "Arizona".

Emily also made this jelly roll quilt.

Julia also went to the retreat  and made this frayed squares baby quilt.

Rachel made this summer applique quilt.

Close up

Rachel also made this small apple quilt (sorry it's blurry...camera problems today)

Rachel made this cute taggy quilt (still having camera problems)

Rachel used 2 1/2" scraps for this quilt.

This is a chevron quilt for Rachel's daughter's bed at school. She used half square triangles to form the chevron. On the back she used cuddle soft fabric.

Kathi made this table topper using scraps from a previous project, then machine quilted it on her home sewing machine.

Back of quilt.

Nancy Christensen made this tumbler quilt using all scraps and wool batting. (still having camera probs)

This is the back of Nancy's quilt.

Hot cocoa fabric

This is a Rolling Stars pattern Cindy used to make this quilt. She made the blocks at the retreat.

Lenette made this Super Girl at the retreat. That was the theme of the retreat. If you squint your eyes, you can get rid of the blurriness. ;)

Corrie made 40 of these cute journal covers for the women who went to her retreat.

Corrie also made this book bag as a baby gift.

Maurene went to Superior Threads while she was visiting St. George, UT and bought this kit. It's called Perfect 10 by Swirly Girls.

Cheryl, our guest, also shared a quilt top that she made for her son and new daughter in law.
Diane used a charm pack to make this quilt top.

Diane also used a charm pack for this one... same quilt top different charm pack.

Diane made this top of pinwheels using polka dot fabrics.

GUEST SPEAKER
Cheryl Gunn owner of Waltzing with Bears

This is what Cheryl says:
I have been happily designing patterns since 1995. I’ve kept my business small so I can focus on my family and keep my sanity or at least try to. It is my dream job, it helps me stay balanced and feeds my creativity.  The best part of my job is the exchange of enthusiasm for creating that others share with me and the terrific people I get to meet.
Cheryl then shared several of her quilts and patterns with us. Below are several of them.
Cheryl was featured in Quiltmania recently.

This is a cute Merry Christmas banner (last blurry picture, then I fixed the camera)

Diane then held a little raffle where each of us scratched off the paint on the card we chose to see if we were winners.
