Oct 2014 Taco Soup/Sweet Cornbread/Carmelites

Monica hosted our meeting this month. Thanks Monica!
We discussed our upcoming Christmas meeting which will be at Jeri's on Dec. 17th (Note the change). Unless you signed up for a soup (Jeri, Darla & Robyn) or rolls (Rachel & Sherry), you should bring either a salad or a dessert. Also we will have our annual gift exchange. Bring it wrapped. We also talked about some fun ideas we could do as a group such as a quilt-along. We'll chat more about that in our January meeting. In the meantime, look up quilt-alongs and get some ideas that would be fun to do.
Here are our show and tells!

Sherry made this fun Halloween pillow.

Darla made a bunch of quilts to give away as donations again. Darla, you're so awesome for always doing this! Darla said she's pretty sure she's gonna die with the most fabric!! haha She hasn't seen the all the rest of our stashes.

Darla made this one too and said she used clips for binding and it was a great tip that she learned.

Another Darla quilt.

Darla made this one for a nursing home.

Darla also made this one using strips bought at Sisters, Oregon.

Jeanie made this for her granddaughter and it has grey minky on the back.

Jeanie found her pizza box squares from our last exchange! Yea! She thought she had thrown them out in the move, so this was a great find. She pieced them on point for her quilt.

Lynette crocheted the edges of these burp cloths while driving home in a truck from Florida.

Nancy made this quilt top of houses. It's a FigTree pattern.

Nancy also brought these fun hand towels to show. This one was particularly funny.

Nancy also brought these hand towels.

Maurene won the jelly roll giveaway at Rachel's retreat so she made this "steps" quilt. It is hand quilted and there is flannel on the back. It's a pattern form the book "Strip Savvy" shown below. Maurene said this is a great book with lots of fun patterns.

Jeri made this duck quilt for a grandson and it uses foundation piecing.

Rachel made this wool wall hanging called "Harvest Moon".

Rachel quilted this quilt and the one below for Maurene's sister-in-law who is 93. Her sister-in-law Bessie pieced them both and the one below was made using fabrics from Maurene's mom. She made them for a family reunion. Quilting definitely runs in their family!
