Thank you Robyn for hosting a wonderful Material Girls meeting this week. We were a little small in number but huge in creativity and motivation. We were asked to bring a favorite quilt that we have shared before. That was a great idea because we all enjoy seeing beautiful quilts again. Here are the pics from our meeting:
Diane and Michiko's Scrappy baby quilt
Diane's coasters
Diane's scrappy nine patch. She says she'll never do another scalloped border-way too difficult!
One of Diane's very first quilts-a batik sampler. It's a favorite.
Mary's pizza box quilt. Wow! It turned out great and she added the lime green accent quilt squares.
One of Maurene's favorite quilts. Several of us Material Girls loved her quilt so much that we also made this same one.
Jeanie's jelly roll/charm pack quilt. Minky on the back and as binding.
One of Jeanie's favorite quilts. It was a block of the month.
Rachel's table runner
Rachel made this quilt for a friend in the midwest who has and loves tractors. He bought the fabric and she made the quilt for him.
Rachel's paper pieced quilt.
Notice that the upper left and bottom right stars are exactly the same as the others except she used white fabric in the middle.
One of Rachel's favorite quilts
Rachel made her blouse-what talent!
One of Kathi's favorite quilts
Robyn shared one of her favorite quilts, a snowball quilt made with Kaffe Fassett fabric.
Monica's star table topper
Monica's table topper. She's trying to decide how to finish it so if you have any ideas, pass them on to her. :)
Heather's quilt using the new tool, the Twisted. You sew ten inch squares together into a quilt top, lay the twisted template on top at the seam intersections and cut around the template, then piece it back together. She said it was fast and easy.
Here's another Twisted quilt

All of Heather's quilts had Cuddle Soft on the back.
Carolanna's Twisted quilt
One of Carolanna's favorite quilts, made of the Fandango fabric line.
At this point, Robyn showed us some samples of beautiful appliqué work by her friend Susan Daines. Susan taught Robyn her easy appliqué technique. Robyn passed it on to us. Susan's quilts are beautiful as you can see:
Here is a copy of our handout and some photo directions for the appliqué technique:
Then Robyn served a delicious lunch. Thank you Robyn!

These glue guns were left at Lenette's house several months ago after one of our meetings. If they look familiar and you'd like to claim them, call Diane S.
See you next month. Our meeting will be held on August 29th, at Maurene's house.
