May 2024 meeting

Cindy and Lenette hosted quilt group at Cindy’s home. 16 attended including Caren’s great-granddaughter. The hosting sign up sheet through 2025 was circulated. If anyone would like to host or help, please contact Diane.  A quilt store in Nampa, Quilting Bliss is closing doors. The fabric is 40% off through the closing.  The last day for business is Tuesday, June 19th. The hours are

9:00 - 4:00 Mon - Fri   9:00 - 1:00 Saturdays.

We started with a demo by Cindy for colorful homemade luggage tags that can easily be made from scraps. The uniqueness of the tag helps to identify your luggage. Cindy and Lenette cut kits and handed out instructions.

To start Show and Tell, those who received quilted postcards in the mail, from last month’s meeting, shared their cards.

Cindy knitted three sweaters. The cream sweater is a combination of crochet (yolk) and knit.

Jo made a quilt for a soon to be born baby boy whose name will be "Coastal". Teri Hair did the machine quilting. She also made a pumpkin/sunflower themed table runner and a Quilt Smart Black Eyed Susan quilt that Rachel quilted for her.

Caren made two quilts for an organization that supports foster children. She made them from scraps that she had from making pajama pants for her grandchildren. Both quilts and backings are flannel.

Caren's great-granddaughter, Quinn, made a quilt for her doll.  Caren taught her to miter the corners.
Quinn also showed a quilt that Caren made for her doll.

Monica has a friend who asked her to make quilts (9 total) from her deceased husband's shirts for family members. Monica has been busy and the quilts are wonderful. She showed some at an earlier meeting. Here are the recently completed quilts.

Monica was also able to make a quilt for herself! the pattern is by Missouri Star and called "Pinwheel Wreath." It takes one layer cake and background fabric. She also made a table runner.

Debbie made a graduation quilt for a grandson.

Rachel made several bed quilts. She used "Old Glory" fabric by Moda. There is a queen quilt and two bunk quilts and a table runner.

Rachel also made this Skylight quilt

Nancy C has been working on a quilt for a graduation gift.

Here it is finished!

Deb made a patriotic quilt for her husband.

Jeri made a travel bag.

Jeri made two quilts - one with lots of flying geese called "Swimming Upstream" and another with fabric that she had received from her sisters. She sewed the last quilt together at her sisters retreat.

Jeri won the door prize--some chocolates and Swedish dishcloths.
