Here are the pictures of our show and tell from our July meeting at Maurene's. We had a great turnout despite the fact that it's the middle of summer. Following our show and tell, we had a separate show and tell featuring some of our scrappy quilts, patterns and ideas. Several of us brought scrap material from our stash and at the end of the meeting we held a scrap exchange. Actually, it was just a take-what-you-want. Maurene is donating anything that was leftover. We had a light lunch and shared lots of ideas for our scrap/leftover fabrics. Several of us have Pinterest boards where we store some of our favorite quilt ideas too. We also tossed out the idea of having a "fabric fast" where we would force ourselves to go for a certain amount of time without buying any new fabric. Not sure how long some of us would last on that kind of fast. :)
Next month we are meeting at Diane's on Aug. 28th where we will be having a guest speaker, the owner of Waltzing with Bears.

Rachel also made the same quilt with her mother-in-law Maurene. Rachel made little watermelon seeds from sculpy clay and attached them to her quilt.

Rachel displayed this quilt at the recent Star Quilt Show. Business owners were given ribbons and asked to choose their favorites. You can see the ribbons at the bottom of her quilt.

Nancy made this quilt for an auction for the Northwest Children's Home. She considers it a semi-scrappy quilt.
Lenette made this cute wavy flag quilt. She said the wavy piecing was a bit challenging even though they were small pieces. It turned out great!
The Skip Stitch blade
Kathi showed a tool she used on her rotary cutter called a skip stitch that makes little holes in the fabric so that you can add a crocheted border.
Jennie made this hexie "glamping" quilt. There are several pieces of fabric that have funny and cute sayings about camping. It's an excellent pattern to us up your scraps.
Cindy made this blue Twister quilt. It's a great pattern for scrappy piecing but it looks awesome in two colors also. She used half-sized Twisters for the border and her husband made the templates out of plexiglass.
Rachel made this baby girl quilt backed in minky.
Diane used the donations squares from our group last month to make this quilt top. She cut our 9" squares and made half square triangles, then pieced it all together. A ward in the Eagle Stake will tie it and finish it off, then donate it to a local charity.
Diane also embroidered this cute pillowcase. It's a Waltzing with Bears design. The owner of Waltzing with Bears will be coming to our next meeting and speaking with us.
Diane's daughter Nancy made all of these dog collars. Nancy sells them so if you are interested get ahold of Diane.
Jeanie made this grey and yellow quilt. It's backed in yellow minky.
Jeanie also made this cute candlemat from wool.

Cauliflower Broccoli Salad
1 head broccoli, cut in pieces
1 head cauliflower, cut in pieces
1 c. frozen peas, thawed
1 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 c. grapes
2 bunches green onions, chopped
1 c. craisins
Dressing:
2 c. mayonnaise
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
2 tsp. vinegar
